Le Renard
5 minute walk from the apartment, this is our favourite watering and eating hole. Owned and run by a Brit, the menu is still locally-influenced and superb quality.

L’Auberge de la Dranse
La Dranse is the river that runs from the top of Chatel right through to Lac Leman. Directly opposite the apartment is a nice restaurant specialising in local Savoyarde dishes

La Ripaille
Classic French cuisine, best visited if you have at least a basic command of the language. Good food, excellent wine list and of course, the children are welcome.

There are many other restaurants in Chatel itself, a 15 minute walk, or you can use the free bus service.

Ski hire
There are many local ski-hire shops, and often there’s not much to differentiate shops and their facilities. However, we have found the best service and selection of equipment at Vertical Horizons, located 3 minutes walk form the apartment. It is owned by James, a Brit, so at last you can explain how uncomfortable your boots are in English! Reserve skis by e-mail to James here. Please mention that you’re using our place!

Supermarket/Bakery
There’s a local Alimentation for everyday basics, together with a bakery (for the pain and croissants!) 4 minutes walk away.

If you want more goods than are available there, Chatel has an ‘Intermarche’ 4 minutes drive away.

Kindergarten
There are two kindergarten dedicated to teaching even very young children to ski: one offering day care for children aged 2 to 8 years old. Both are within 5 minutes walk.

Ski Schools
There are a number of ski schools in Chatel, and of course, English is spoken in every one.
